New organisation to help run Suffolk’s libraries

A NEW organisation is to be set up to help run Suffolk County Council libraries.

The Industrial and Provident Society (IPS) will work with, but be independent from, the authority to support its 44 libraries.

The new model would cost up to £652,000 to set up but would be 27.6 per cent cheaper to run than the current system.

The move allows all libraries to remain open and services in Suffolk would cost £6.487 million a year compared to their £8.961 million running cost in 2010/11.
