New houses approved despite concerns

A PLANNING application for six affordable houses in Worlington has been approved despite concerns about the safety of the access point.

Worlington Parish Council raised concerns that access to the Freckenham Road site proposed by Suffolk Housing Society would be hazardous due to the high speed of traffic using the road.

Local residents also raised concerns about the site’s proximity to a school bus-stop and said that traffic calming would need to be installed. However, in a report Forest Heath District Council, officers said it would not be reasonable for approval to require traffic calming as problems on the road pre-dated the application.

The application was approved by Forest Heath planners subject to the head of planning looking at measures regarding access and pedestrian safety.
