A new headteacher has been appointed at Cherry Trees Preparatory School and Montessori Nursery.

Carole Beedham will take over at the Risby school at the start of the summer term.

It follows the retirement of former head and founder Wendy Compson.

Mrs Beedham is currently deputy head of a prep school in Knightsbridge and has more than 15 years teaching experience including various international roles.

She is also an Ofsted inspector.

Mrs Beedham said: “Outstanding teaching and learning, partictularly in the early years, has always been a passion for me and I am looking forward to building on the excellent Montessori practice that is already a feature of the school.

“I am also very much looking forward to meeting the children, staff and parents and establishing a close working relationship that will ensure that all children at Cherry Trees achieve their full potential.”

She will be supported by deputy head Eddie Hepper, who has been at the school for the last three years, and plans to move to the region over the Easter break with her family.

Cherry Trees is owned by the Montessori St
Nicholas Charity, who bought the school and nursery last summer.

Charity chief executive Philip Bujak added: “The trustees and I are delighted that in Carole Beedham we have been able to appoint a
headteacher with a proven track record of change management and successful leadership both in business and in education.”
