Mum's thanks to kind strangers
A devoted mum, whose son suffers from severe cerebral palsy and epilepsy, has spoken of her gratitude at the fund-raising efforts of strangers.
Cheryl Middleton, of Stowmarket, said she could not believe how many people had helped to raise thousands of pounds for East Anglia's Children's Hospices (Each) - a cause close to her heart.
The charity regularly cares for her two-year-old son Charlie, giving Cheryl and her husband Robin much-needed respite.
"Charlie is completely dependent and needs everything done for him - he needs to be fed and changed, he can't play by himself, he has a lot of medication. As he has a lot of seizures he needs specialist care," she said. "He can go into Each and it means my husband and I can rest and get a good night's sleep."
Now, thanks to the efforts of fund-raisers, 2,450 has been handed over to the charity.
Anglia Indoor Kart Racing, in Ipswich, held a charity fun day with all the proceeds going to Each and asked entrants in a team endurance race to raise sponsorship. The endurance event was so popular more are being held to raise extra funds.
"I'm overwhelmed. I find it completely amazing that all these people will help you when they don't even know you," said Cheryl.
"Charlie is amazing - he rarely complains and he hardly ever cries. He's such a sweet little boy. He does enjoy things - you'll get a smile and a look from him that shows he's having fun.
"But more than anything he loves his cuddles and being around people."
