MP gets a lesson in banking

Waiting for Video...

Matthew Hancock, MP for West Suffolk, received a lesson in banking at Ipswich Building Society.

Mr Hancock visited the newly opened Mildenhall branch, on Friday, to hear from the society’s chief executive Paul Winter and meet four employees who have recently completed apprenticeships within the company.

Mr Winter said: “The Mildenhall agency is our latest venture, we were really delighted to move into the town when one of our competitors decided they did not want to be here.”

Ipswich Building Society opened an agency branch in Balmforth Estate Agents, in High Street, following a local campaign.

Mr Hancock said: “I think its a brilliant collaboration. It’s terrific to have a top quality building society back in Mildenhall.”

Mr Hancock was taught to process a transaction for Geoff Ashton, who campaigned for the opening of the branch, by Grace Teager, who has recently completed an apprenticeship at the building society.
