Youngsters at a village school were given a licence to kill ... bacteria as part of a food health and safety course.

Children, aged seven to nine, at Walsham-le-Willows Primary were given briefcases to investigate hygiene within their kitchens at home.

The course, dubbed Mission Possible, is offered by Suffolk County Council.

The work aims to get them to think about how to stop bacteria spreading. In class they also looked at different food samples and used microscopes.

Alison Pollard, key stage two teacher, said: “It develops their investigative skills and approaches,”
