Man in birthday brawl
A MAN has admitted assaulting police officers and possessing cocaine after his 40th birthday celebration went ‘horribly wrong’.
Jonathan Hogg, 40, of Out Westgate, Bury St Edmunds, pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a police officer, one count of resisting a constable and possession of cocaine at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on September 21.
Prosecuting, Rosalind Cappleman said that Hogg had been out drinking on August 23 to celebrate his 40th birthday.
She said Hogg assaulted the officers after being involved in a brawl outside the Chocolate Bar, in Bury.
She said: “Mr Hogg kicked out with both his feet hitting Pc Orr in the chest and arms.”
In police custody, a search was carried out and a small amount of drugs was found, she said.
In mitigation, Declan Gallagher said that Hogg, who does not normally drink, had drunk cocktails, Champagne and wine.
He said: “It was an unfortunate incident.
“This was a 40th birthday that went horribly wrong.”
Hogg will return to court for sentencing on October 16 after a full report has been completed.
He was released on conditional bail.
