Man hurt in car-roll crash
A PASSENGER was seriously injured after the car he was riding in came off the road, rolled over twice and landed on him.
Emergency services were called to the westbound carriageway of the A14 at around 11.25pm on Saturday after a silver Honda Civic skidded down an embankment and rolled over twice, coming to a halt on its wheels on the Beacon Hill slip road.
A rear seat passenger was partially ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries when it rolled on top of him.
Four men, all in their 20s, were treated by a volunteer doctor from the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service as well as paramedics at the scene.
The injured passenger was released from underneath the vehicle by fire and rescue crews and taken by land ambulance to West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds, accompanied by a doctor and a critical care paramedic.
Although the man’s injuries were serious, including a dislocated jaw, they are not thought to be life threatening.
The other three occupants of the car escaped without injury.
