Man from Thetford who threatened to stab escort girl loses appeal
Thetford man Sam Buckland, 23, lost an appeal on Wednesday against his six-year jail sentence given in October after he was convicted of sexually assaulting and robbing an escort girl in Brighton.
London’s Criminal Appeal Court heard how Buckland of Old Market Street, lured the girl into an alleyway, sexually assaulted her, threatened to stab her if she screamed, then stole her bag containing a laptop.
Lawyers for Buckland argued that he should not have been jailed for more than four years.
But appeal court Judge Peter Beaumont dismissed the appeal. He said: “This was a planned event. He intended to have a sexual encounter without paying for it.”
