Man fined for fly tipping
A man has been fined more than £1,000 after admitting and apologising for fly tipping.
Matthew Duvall, 34, from St Andrews Street, Mildenhall, pleaded guilty to fly tipping at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (14).
Nigel Dulieu, prosecuting for Forest Heath District Council, said a witness saw Duvall dump waste at Wildmere Lane, Holywell Row, Beck Row, on November 8.
An Enforcement officer found broken wooden furniture, two black rubbish sacks with household waste, an electric fan, cleaning fluids and a cardboard box, at the site.
Duvall said he was assisting a friend who has since returned home to the USA.
He said they had been to the household recycling site but it was closed.
Duvall said: “I used poor judgement.
“I need to apologise for that.”
Duvall was fined £400, ordered to pay the council’s costs of £584.49 and a victim surcharge of £40.
