Man dies in A11 road traffic collision
Fatal accident on the A11, between Barton Mills and Elveden.
A man has died following a two vehicle collision on the A11 at Mildenhall.
A spokesman for police said emergency services were in attendance at the incident.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 2.10pm.
The East Anglian Air Ambulance was in attendance, two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle.
An ambulance service spokesperson said: “The man was pronounced dead at the scene and our thoughts are with those affected by this sad incident.
“He became trapped in his car and subsequently died from crush injuries despite extensive work from our crews to save his life.
“The lorry driver also suffered minor injuries and was transported to West Suffolk General.”
The lorry driver is believed to have suffered spinal injuries.
The road has been closed between Fiveways roundabout at Barton Mills and the junction with the B1112.
Police have said a black Mercedes and a white DAF truck were involved in the collision.
A police spokeswoman said the road was likely to be closed for several hours, with diversions put in place.
