A man was arrested Tuesday night following reports of a car being driven the wrong way down the A14.

Police were called at around 10.25pm by a member of the public who reported seeing a car travelling westbound on the eastbound carriageway of the A14.

A police spokeswoman said the driver entered the road at the A140 Coddenham junction and was stopped by police between Bury Central and Westley.

The car was taken off the A14 near the Tesco car park at St Saviours Interchange.

A 72-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

He was released on police bail until March 15 when he is due to attend the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.
