Man admits town brawl

AN ALCOHOLIC who swung at least six punches during a town centre brawl has pleaded guilty to assault.

Jamie Parsons, 30, of Queen’s Road, Brandon, admitted beating Richard Fraser during the incident in Market Square on April 7.

Parson appeared at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday where his solicitor, Sally Dale, said he had been sober for two years before the night in question when he had some alcohol with a meal.

The fight took place in Market Square, with both men swinging punches, according to David Bryant, prosecuting.

Parsons was given a conditional discharge for one year and ordered to pay £85 costs by lead magistrate, Jane Jewers.
