Making New Year’s Eve go with a swing

‘It was a long night’! ‘The party started at seven & I don’t know what time I turned in’. Sound familiar? How do you survive New Years Eve & wake up on January 1st feeling somewhat human?

Here are a few tips:-

Top-up with vitamin B, before the evening kicks-off.

Have plenty of chilled water available & drink is alongside wine & alcoholic beverages.

It’s an oldie, but, try not to mix grape with grain.

Cook a pot of casserole or something similar & serve it at an established time.

Try not to consume too much sugar with your alcohol, as it accelerates the depletion of B vitamins

If you’re eating later – a plate of pasta or cheese is a good choice, as carbohydrates are a good source of amino acids.

Drink quality over quantity.

In the glass:-

Sparkling wines bring that touch of celebration to the party, make the fizz last longer by mixing with juices, making sure you add the sparkling wine last.

Bellini – Substitute Champagne with Cava & mix with peach juice.

Buck’s Fizz – Orange juice at the base.

Poinsettia – Small amount of orange juice & cranberry juice.

If you are drinking still white wines, consider bottles with lower alcohol by volume, for instance – German Riesling’s from the Mosel region, or Australian Semillon.
