BUDDING musicians have held a major – and minor – fund-raiser to raise cash for charity.
Thetford Music Project’s young musicians showed off their skills at a Scaleathon last Thursday at Queensway Junior School.
The students were challenged to learn as many scales as they could in the days leading up to the event and were then tested on how many they could recite in five minutes.
Polly Fenn, the project’s director, said the event combined learning and raised funds for the Motor Neurone Association.
“Scales are such a crucial part of a student’s musical development and not just for exams,” she said.
Ms Fenn said the group was looking to raise ‘hundreds of pounds’ for the association.
