Madelaine's capital idea for charity

A Bury St Edmunds woman will put her best foot forward through the parks of London to raise hundreds of pounds for a mental health charity.

Madelaine Sivertsen, 44, aims to prove her endurance in the Royal London Parks half marathon next month.

She plans to net at least 400 for Mind from the run on October 10.

The challenge starts and finishes in Hyde Park taking in a number of other beauty spots in the capital.

Mrs Sivertsen started running about 18 months ago.

She has completed the Cancer Research five and 10km runs.

Mrs Sivertsen, of Ridley Road, said: "One of the reasons I'm doing it is that October 10 is World Mental Health Day.

"One in four people will suffer a mental health problem during their lives.

"If you don't directly have a mental health problem, then someone you love or care for will.

"I want to raise awareness that everyone is affected by mental health.

"I have always wanted to do something for Mind."

Mind run both a local and national network working with about 250,000 people every year.

They help people who suffer from all types of mental distress. To sponsor her visit www.virginmoneygiving.com/madelainesivertsen.
