Long-awaited skate park progresses following meeting
Young people in Red Lodge are one-step closer to having a skate park, following more than a decade of campaigning.
The village’s residents were given the opportunity to debate the proposed site of the skate park at a public meeting on Tuesday,
All those present agreed a skate park would be a good addition to the village.
However the site, on a field adjoining the village’s sports pavilion, was disputed due to its proximity to residential housing.
Residents presented objections that the skate park would push noise from the field above a ‘tolerable’ limit.
Members of Red Lodge’s Skate Park Working Group, speaking at the meeting, said it was vital to accommodate young people in the village.
Speaking at the end of the meeting, Clive Macleod, of the skate park working group, said: “What I liked was that everybody had the opportunity to have their say – noise will be looked at within the planning process.”
At the end of the meeting, attendees voted for the planning process to continue on the proposed site.
Red Lodge Parish Council will now look into entering a planning application to Forest Heath District Council.
