Little Bears enjoy a story party
Little Bears Pre-school, based at Tollgate Primary School in Bury. The pre-school has just passed the Every Child A Talker framework which has been given by Suffolk County Council to settings which have 'demonstrated excellence in promoting language in young children'. They are holding a 'Story Party' to celebrate, which involves dressing up, story and song based activities. A PRE-SCHOOL which has been recognised for its excellence in promoting language in young children celebrated its success on Friday by hosting a story party.
Children at Little Bears Pre-School, in Tollgate Lane, Bury St Edmunds, dressed up as their most loved book characters and brought in their favourite books for the occasion.
They enjoyed song and rhyme based activities and stories, in which their parents were invited to take part.
Rebecca Smith, Little Bears’ deputy leader, said: “The children loved it, they were showing their books and telling us what happened in their stories and laughing at each other’s costumes.”
The celebration followed the pre-school’s attainment of Suffolk County Council’s Every Child a Talker programme, introduced as part of a national project to develop the language and communication of children up to five-years-old.
Stressing the importance of the programme, Mrs Smith said: “The earlier the children learn to communicate, the easier it is for them to be independent in their learning – it’s the foundation for all learning.”
