Lewis to release debut album

NEWMARKET singer-songwriter Lewis Mokler is releasing his debut album Fingertips on June 25.

The 2011 BurySound winner has had a very busy 2012 - playing more than 120 gigs since topping the competition.

Lewis will play his 80th gig of the year at his album’s launch event at the Apex in Bury St Edmunds on June 22.

Lewis, 20, has already released three EPS and has amassed an army of dedicated fans - who call themselves the ‘Hot Moklates’.

Lewis said the album release had been the culmination of a year’s hard work.

He said: “I am really looking forward to the album release now.

“It has been a lot of time in the studio and a lot of hard work in the making.

“But now it is upon us.

“It has been a very busy year for me since winning the competition, I have played more than 120 gigs since then.

“But I love it, it is the best job in the world. This is my debut album, I had released a few EPs before with just me and an acoustic guitar.

“The album is a more polished and finished piece of... I’d like to call it art.

“It is music we have spent a lot of time and a lot of hard work creating.”

Lewis began recording the album at The Shrubbery Recording Studio in Bury St Edmunds in January.

The album features everything from pure acoustic tracks to songs with a full backing band.

The backing musicians were picked from the cream of local talent including Seymour Quigley from Ten City Nation, Simon Glenister from Tunng and singer songwriter Danielle Sc harpf.

But Lewis said the hard work doesn’t end here.

“While I have been making and recording this album, I have pretty much written another two more albums worth of tracks.

“I am so happy that the album is here now.

“Only a few more days and it will be here - I am really excited.

“It almost feels like Christmas.”
