THETFORD exploded into party mode at the weekend as hundreds marked the Jubilee.

Red, white and blue was the order of the day on the Market Square as around 700 partygoers sat down for a Jubilee lunch.

Stiltwalkers, music and face painting provided the entertainment.

The party then moved to Melford Common, where a funfair and free concert were held.

Local acts including rapper Franko Fraize and Norfolk Brass performed at the packed out show, with One Night of Queen providing a fitting finale.

The day culminated with a spectacular fireworks display and the lighting of Thetford’s Jubilee beacon. Local historian, David Osborne, and 12-year-old Eden King did the honours.

Corinne Fulford, Thetford town councillor, said: “It was so lovely to see the people of Thetford coming out and doing what they do best - celebrating all that is good about our amazing community.”
