It’s a Knockout makes a comeback
Launch of 'It's a Knockout' at the West Suffolk Hospital. Anton Woodward, Andy Barton and Justin Fletcher from the Round Table. Jan Bloomfield, Martin Wagner and Claire Webb.
Fun-loving fund-raisers will be pulling together this summer as part of our Beat It campaign - and you can be involved.
It’s a Bury Knockout, organised by West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds Round Table and West Suffolk College, promises more laughs when it takes place on July 14, with the hunt for teams starting soon.
Money raised at the event will go to our Beat It campaign, which is aiming to raise £55,000 for a TRUS machine to help diagnose prostate cancer.
Teams of 10 to 12 will have the chance to take part in ten games, including cargo net scrambles, relay races and assault courses.
Jan Bloomfield, executive director of workforce and communications for West Suffolk Hospital, said: “Last year’s It’s a Bury Knockout was such a great success that we’ve decided to hold the event again.
“We’re really pleased to have the Round Table on board, as they have a track record of organising excellent fund-raising events such as the annual fireworks display in the Abbey Gardens.
“We want even more teams to get involved this year so that they can have fun while also raising money towards a really worthwhile cause.”
Teams from local businesses and organisations are able to take part and each team is asked to raise a minimum of £500.
Justin Fletcher, chairman of the Round Table, said: “Last year our team had a great time taking part, and it was a great family day.
“This is exactly the kind of event we are keen to support - local community involvement and having fun while raising crucial funds for good causes.”
Emmanuelle Durand, sales and marketing manager at West Suffolk College, said it was hoping to enter a team of students.
“We are delighted to be involved in Bury It’s Knockout again this year,” she said.
Fund-raising stalls will also be run at the event, with local businesses being invited to contact Claire Webb, hospital fund-raising co-ordinator, on 01284 712952 if they would like to get involved.
