When Jim Crick got asked if he wanted to be in a film he knew it would be a horror.

‘I didn’t know whether to feel offended or flattered,’ he said.

Warehouseman Jim was at a friend’s wedding when he was spotted by film maker Mark Fisher who thought his gaunt appearance was perfect for the his new short film.

“I couldn’t take my eyes off him.

“He is about 6ft 6in tall – he just looked amazing,” said Mark.

He was looking for someone to play the title role in his second short film, a horror called Belly of the Wolf.

Jim, who sings with Generation of Swine, had been an usher and singer at the weddding.

“Apparently as soon as he saw me sing he said he knew he had found the right person,” said Jim.

“I then got this message asking if I wanted to be in a film, I said let me guess its a horror.

“I’m quite gaunt and many people have said I would look good in a horror film.

“When I got the script and read the character’s description I didn’t know whether to feel offended or flattered

“But everybody said to me you have got to do it.”

The 41-year-old who lives in Elmswell, described the film experience as ‘weird’.

Belly of the Wolf was shot over three and a half days last October at the former RAF Bentwaters.

“Itwas just a fantastic locations for us. It is very isolated,” said Mark.

But Jim who works in a warehouse for a printing press in Lavenham said: “It was quite harrowing. I was just screaming at small children.

“When I finished I just flopped down, I felt drained.”

Although he will not be hiring an agent just yet, Jim has not ruled out acting again.

“Never say never,” he said.

“It was actually my mates who talked me into doing it.

“ A few of them have seen bits of the film and say they have been really impressed.

“I’m looking forward to seeing it on the big screen.”

Part of the film saw Jim have to wear horror make up.

“That was just a nightmare.

“You are sitting about for half a day – the fake blood is like sugar so it is like being covered in jam, you’ve got flies landing on you and your not alowed to take it off.

“And it is a bit of a shock when you I sat down for dinner in full make up and you see the reaction on people’s faces .”
