Heads form new group

Headteachers across Suffolk have formed a new group to help raise primary school standards.

The Suffolk Primary Headteachers’ Association aims to make the county’s primary schools among the best in the country within the next five years.

They are attempting to reverse the county’s ailing educational fortunes after it came third from bottom in the latest Key Stage Two results.

Within 20 minutes of its launch, the group had 70 members, rising to 100 within a fortnight and will soon be at 300 as headteachers from North and West Suffolk join.

A spokeswoman said: “We believe that to share our skills, along with our commitment to children’s learning can only benefit Suffolk’s children.

“They deserve the highest quality of teaching and learning and we are dedicated to providing this, in partnership with parents and the community, using the very best sources available.

“Working with families is crucial to securing the very best education and outcomes for our children and we welcome the invaluable contribution they can make.”
