From today we will be able to find out how the newly commissioner for Suffolk intends to managed police and tackle crime on a dwindling budget.

Tim Passmore was elected to the £70,000 a year newly created role in November.

Now Suffolk’s first Police and Crime Commissioner is to publish the first draft of his Police and Crime Plan for public consultation.

“Since taking office in November I have met and listened to a wide range of the community to understand their concerns and expectations,” said Mr Passmore.

“This feedback has been vital as I have drafted my Police and Crime plan, working closely with the Chief Constable and other front line officers who act as my principle advisers on policing matters,

“I have also worked closely with community safety partners, victim support and business representatives to develop my police and crime objectives.

“And I am now asking all Suffolk residents, particularly those who have been victims of crime, to have their say on the plan and my proposals for expenditure.

“It is an important part of my role to ensure that the plan includes and addressess the views on local policing of the electorate; it will be a public document and a key mechanism for me to hold the Chief Constable to account and ensure the broader community safety objectives are delivered.”

It will be available from 12pm at www.suffolk-pcc.gov.uk or from 01473 782777.
