A YOUNG hairdresser has reached the finals of a prestigious competition for trainees and students.

Chloe Clarke-Mudd, 18, of Stowmarket, was chosen to represent West Suffolk College in the UK Skills 2012 hairdressing competition, in which students and trainees compete to create and copy complex hairstyles.

In the first two rounds of the competition, Chloe created two hairstyles on training heads and copied one hairstyle, challenges she will repeat in the final.

Chloe studied at West Suffolk College, completing the level two hairdressing NVQ qualification this year.

Chloe said: “I am extremely excited to be through to the finals of UK Skills in November and can’t wait to show off my skills and compete to my greatest ability.

“Even though I completed my studies this year I’m still attending college and receiving the support of the department, working hard in preparation for November.

“I can’t wait for the final and am looking forward to being challenged once again to show my own skills and demonstrate all that I have learnt during my time at the college.”

Marnie Randall, West Suffolk College’s course director, said: “Chloe has a wonderful eye for colour and shape.

“She has natural talent combined with an artist’s flair. These will make her a valuable asset to any professional salon. She has a bright future ahead of her.”

Chloe will compete in the final of the competition at the NEC, in Birmingham, on November 15.
