Gwen's 90th birthday joy
Four generations paid tribute to a well-known figure in Stowmarket, Gwen Smith, when she celebrated her 90th birthdayon Sunday.
Mrs Smith, who was formerly Gwen Baker, ran a family shop in Regent Street and then in Stowupland Street until the 1960s.
She also worked for a number of local employers, including Thurlow Nunn and Rumbelow's, and finally at SLM Ltd.
Her family joined her for a birthday celebration at The Cedars Hotel in Needham Market.
She has two sons, Richard and Kevin, and a daughter Mary. Seven of her grandchildren and great granddaughter Abigail joined her for the celebrations.
