Group gets £8k grant

A YOUTH project in Thetford has got a timely boost after it received £8,000 from a council funding initiative.

Thetford Community Association has pocketed the money as part of Norfolk County Council’s £72,000 Youth Transition Fund.

The association will use the money to fund staff costs and volunteer expenses.

It uses sport to teach new skills to young people, including football coaching.

Alison Thomas, the Norfolk County Council’s cabinet member for children’s services, said: “This funding is supporting established voluntary sector groups to continue to provide valuable activities to young people in their communities, while we move towards the county’s new model of delivering youth work.”
