Golden pair’s funds

A COUPLE raised more than £1,750 for charity from their golden wedding.

John and Peggy Thurlow, of Honey Hill, Bury St Edmunds, asked guests at their celebratory party to donate to St Nicholas Hospice Care rather than buying gifts.

Mr Thurlow, 74, a former hospice trustee, said: “We don’t need anything else so we asked if people would be kind enough to give donations instead.”

The pair married on June 22 1962 at Earl Stonham Church.
