Golden couple take trip of a lifetime

A PAIR of childhood sweethearts have celebrated their golden wedding awith a once in a lifetime holiday.

David and Berenice Coombs met in London in 1957 when Berenice was 13 and David was 17.

They would spend time around local parks and David would give Berenice rides on the back of his motorbike.

On September 22, 1962, the pair married at St Mary’s Church, Perivale, London.

David, Bernice and their three children have been a big part of the community since moving to Mildenhall.

David ran Mildenhall Kingfishers Football Club, whre his two sons played.

David and Berenice celebrated their anniversary by holding a party for close friends and family before embarking on a trip to New England, during which they will visit Niagara Falls.

When asked the secret to long and happy marriage, the couple said: “Never go to bed on an argument and never go out the door without saying goodbye – you never known if you will come home.”
