Girl’s birthday wish for a clean community
Litter pick on the Lords Walk area near RAF Lakenheath in Eriswell, organised by 10 year old Jasmine Clark.
The average 10-year-old girl’s birthday wishes involve ponies, boy bands and the latest trends, but one girl wished for a clean neighbourhood.
Jasmine Clark, of Eriswell, asked her parents to help her organise a community litter pick to celebrate her tenth birthday.
Jasmine said: “I wanted to get people together to clean up Lords Walk so I asked my parents if people will help me.”
On Saturday morning more than 50 people turned out to help Jasmine clear about 20 bin-liners of rubbish from the area around Lords Walk, Eriswell.
Jasmine’s father, TSgt James Clark, said: “It went great. We collected loads of litter, there was tons of stuff, the place looked great.”
After the litter pick volunteers stayed to enjoy some lunch and watch Jasmine plant two trees donated by Forest Heath District Council.
TSgt Clark said: “Christina and I have always encouraged Jasmine to do what is important to her and to think of others before herself.
“We are very proud of Jasmine and the positive example that she is setting for the neighbourhood and the rest of the community.”
