Funeral for the first of two Ixworth teenagers killed after crash on the A14 at Bury St Edmunds
Family and friends paid tribute to 19-year-old Adam Weller in a moving service at West Suffolk Crematorium on Wednesday.
He died alongside friend Macauley Clements, 16, following a crash on the A14 at Bury St Edmunds last month.
Both were from Ixworth.
Adam was described as cheeky, always smiling, would help anyone and who had a passion for cars.
“Even if things were going wrong for him, he would always smile,” said his parents Carol and Jimi. “He would say ‘There’s no point being down, I can’t change anything,’”
“We couldn’t have wished for a nicer, caring, more loving son.”
Brother and sister David and Sara-Louise both lit candles. Sara-Loiuse told how he helped he move flat, rescued her when her car broke down.
“Adam would always put others before himself and never moan about it,” she said.
Adam was close to completing his second year of an apprenticeship at TruckEast.
Other tributes included his form teacher at Thurston Community College Charlotte Johnson who told how she still wears a necklace he bought her when he left the school.
A selection of songs were played including The Climb by Miley Cyrus the lyrics ‘Aint about what’s waiting on the other side: It’s the climb’ a metaphor for life.
The funeral also paid tribute to Macauley.
“Both families have been completely devastated by the loss of such lovely young men,” said Jo Donlevy, civil funeral servant, who led the service.
