Four to face sex charges

FOUR relatives accused of a total of 18 sexual offences, which span more than 20 years, have appeared in court.

On Tuesday, Gary Steed, 48, of Peppers Close, Weeting, appeared in the dock at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court, along with John Steed, 77, and John William Charles Steed, 25, both of York Way, Thetford, and Tracey Edward Crawford, 55, of Florence Barclay Close, Thetford.

Gary Steed is accused of 11 sexual offences, including inciting a girl aged 13 to engage in sexual activity, four of engaging in sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl and three of gross indecency with a girl under 14.

He is also accused of taking an indecent photograph of a child and indecently assaulting a girl under 14.

All are alleged to have taken place between January 1, 1989, and August 1, this year.

John Steed is accused of two sexual assaults on a girl aged 13, between January 1 and December 31, last year.

John William Gary Steed is accused of four counts of raping a 13-year-old girl, between August 1 and September 30, last year.

Crawford is accused of a serious sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl, between January 1, 2009, and March 15, this year.

All were released on conditional bail.
