Four charged following ‘day of action’

Four people have been charged after seven arrests were made in a police operation targeting burglary in the Forest Heath area.

Six teams of officers made the arrests following a series of raids on Friday morning.

The ‘day of action’ was a response to an increase in domestic burglary in the area.

A 31-year-old woman, from Beck Row, has been charged with receiving stolen goods and a 30-year-old man, also from Beck Row, has been charged with burglary.

A 39-year-old man, from Mildenhall, and a 41-year-old man, from Newmarket, have been charged with theft.

Speaking on Friday, Chief Inspector Kim Warner said: “Today’s operation has been a great success and a clear message to anyone who is considering burgling someone’s home. Our message to would-be offenders is simple, we will not stand for this and strong action will be taken against anyone suspected of committing this offence.

“Being a victim of a burglary is extremely traumatic, and the effect it can have on individuals is quite significant. We want to reduce the number of people in our communities who have to experience this, by locating offenders and by encouraging homeowners to take simple measures to deter potential burglars.”

Friday’s raids were carried out in conjunction with ‘operation drawbridge’ a county-wide initiative aimed at reducing the number of burglaries across the county.
