Former headteacher convicted of sex charges
A former headteacher of a boys' school in Great Finborough has been convicted of charges including serious sexual assault and indecent assault.
The jury at Ipswich Crown Court took three-and-a-half hours to find Derek Slade guilty of three charges of a serious sexual offence, four of indecent assault and six of assault causing actual bodily harm.
It did, however, find him not guilty on one charge of serious sexual assault and one of indecent assault.
Slade, 61, of Farm Road, Burton on Trent, had already admitted 15 charges of indecent assault and four of assault causing actual bodily harm. The charges date backk to the late 1970s and early 1980s, when he ran St George's School, in Great Finborough.
Sentencing has been adjourned until Monday so his victims can be present at the court.
St George's School no longer exists and a different school on the same site is no connection.
