Foodbank date in Bury St Edmunds is announced

THE foodbank in Bury St Edmunds will open on November 9.

The date for the launch of the foodbank was announced at a meeting last night.

The charity Gatehouse in Dettingen Way, will run the foodbank.

Vouchers will be given out to people in crisis by organisations such as the Jobcentre.

People will then collect their food parcels from community centres in the town.

Repeat customers will be refered on to other organisations to see if there is a way of helping their underlying problem that is leaving them short of money for food.

Gatehouse needs volunteers to help distribute the food.

It also needs people to donate long life products such as tins and packets of food, tea and coffee.
