Two staff from RAF Honington’s Regional Rehabilitation Unit had the flying experience of a lifetime.

Sharon Burns, an administration officer at RRU, and Mr Kier West, an instructor, won a flight in a 1940s Stearman biplane followed by meal at the Fox Inn, Honington, in a raffle at the pub.

The Fox has been holding fund raising events for the RRU, but had also secretly entered the unit’s staff in the raffle for the flight donated by pub regular, pilot Ian Whitaker-Bethel.

The RRU is funded by the Ministry of Defence but the £1,500 so far raised by the Fox Inn provides extra comforts for patients. The unit is the specialist military centre for musculoskeletal management in East Anglia.

Debbie Valentine, landlady of The Fox, said: “We have seen the great work that goes on at Defence Medical Rehabilitation Unit Headley Court and the Regional Rehabilitation Unit and wanted to support it any way we could.”
