Flaming June release new EP
BANDS: Louise Hamilton from Flaming June
FLAMING June have released an EP encompassing singer-songwriter Louise Hamilton’s 20 years of writing music and playing live.
Their new five track EP called Blood, Sweat and Tears, was released on August 22.
Lead singer Louise, from Newmarket, said she wanted the EP to represent a snapshot of the years she has been writing music.
She said: “The new EP came out last week – I’m really excited about it.
“It is called Blood, Sweat and Tears and it feels like it.
“I just wanted to put something out there that encompasses the last 20 years of playing and writing music.
“We have another EP coming out in January with brand new material on so wanted to do a little compilation to give people a chance to listen to some of our earlier work.
“The oldest track on the EP is called Rejoice which was originally released in 1999 when we were more of an indie band.
“It has distorted guitars on it and a synth keyboard.
“The other four are acoustic tracks more similar to our recent songs.”
Louise said there had been many highlights over the years of playing music live.
She said: “Whenever I play with the band, if someone comes up afterwards and tells us that they like our music – that is what really makes it worthwhile.
“I have to say in all the years I have been playing music, supporting Eliza Carthy a couple of years ago was a real highlight.
“The venue was just packed and she played such a brilliant set.
“Supporting the Moulettes in Cambridge was also a highlight – they are just such a brilliant band.”
As well as the EP release, Flaming June have upcoming gigs lined up in Cambridge supporting Wishing Well and Doctor and the Medics and are playing the Bury Oxjam on Saturday, October 13.
