Fire in Bury flats leaves two hospitalised
EMERGENCY services were called to a fire at a flat in Ipswich Court, Bury St Edmunds, at 12.59am today.
Three people suffered from smoke inhalation, two of which were taken to hospital by ambulance, while the other was treated at the scene.
On arrival fire crews from Bury St Edmunds station found a ground floor flat alight and used breathing apparatus and one hosereel to extinguish the flames.
The flat was in a block of four, all of which were left smoke logged and required ventilation.
The fire service reported the incident as under control at 01.41am.
Fire services expect to begin an investigation into the cause of the fire later today or early tomorrow.
