Finalists compete for beauty queen crown

FINALISTS are getting ready to take to the catwalk and compete to be crowned Miss Cambridgeshire.

Jayde Chorlton, 22, of Bury St Edmunds; Kirsty Bentley, 21, of Mildenhall, and Latifah Rainey, 20, of Tuddenham, are all hoping to beat off 13 other competitors and receive the crown on October 20.

Dance instructor and student Kirsty said: “I want to be seen as a positive role model for younger people and the more I work with them, the more important it becomes to me.”

The winner will be selected at a White Tie and Diamonds Charity Ball at The Polo Club, Newmarket.

The finalists will be judged on the results of a fitness test, an online vote, the amount of money they are able to raise for charity and their performance on the evening when they will take to the catwalk before answering questions about themselves.

Currently the finalists are focused upon organising events to raise as much as they can for ‘Beauty With a Purpose’, a charity which raises funds for the Brent Knoll School in London, which provides support for children with special educational needs.

Latifah has organised a charity band night at The White Hart pub, Newmarket, on August 11 starring local acts.

Latifah said: “I’m loving taking part it’s so much fun to organise an event from nothing.”

The winner will be entered into Miss England 2013, to vote visit www.missengland.info/regionals/cambridgeshire
