Filling empty shop units remains a priority for Bid4Bury
Mark Cordell (Chief of Bid4Bury)
Filling empty shops in Bury St Edmunds is to remain a priority for town centre improvement organisation Bid4Bury.
At its annual meeting on Tuesday, Bid4Bury chief executive Mark Cordell said although only 10 per cent of the town’s business units were empty – below the national average – he wanted to see them filled and would continue to ‘put pressure on local agents’.
He told members about plans to promote their businesses in Ipswich, at Newmarket Racecourse and on the three American air bases around Bury, with further opportunities at the town’s upcoming Whitsun Fayre and Food and Drink Festival.
Businesses were encouraged to get behind the ourburystedmunds brand by displaying its logo on their websites and in their shop windows.
Mr Cordell said he hoped, eventually, to be able to introduce a membership card giving offers and promotions to Bid4Bury customers.
