Fatal collision claims third victim

A woman has died a month after she was critically injured in a car crash that killed two US airmen.

Gwyneth Wainwright, of Denham, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, in Cambridge, suffering head injuries after a Nissan Primera and a BMW were involved in a collision on the A1101 at Icklingham.

The 55-year-old, who was a passenger in the Nissan, died as a result of her injuries yesterday, nearly a month after the collision, which happened on May 30 at 7.20pm.

Staff Sergeant Mark Stephany and Senior Airman Daniel Addabbo, both of RAF Lakenheath, also died at the scene.

The female driver of the Nissan and a male passenger remain in a stable condition.

Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the accident, or for anyone who may have seen the green BMW or the blue Nissan travelling along the A1101 before the collision, to contact Pc Paul Smith on 01473 613500.
