Kenneth Fen from Mildenhall received a birthday card on Wednesday which was posted on November 26, 2012!

A birthday card landed on a Mildenhall man’s doormat last week almost three months after his brother posted it in Bury St Edmunds.

The card, which was posted first class on November 26 just in time to reach Kenneth Fenn for his 69th birthday on November 27, took 85 days to travel the 13 miles to Mildenhall.

Mr Fenn said: “It would have been quicker to walk it here.

“He kept saying we posted it and I kept saying I have not received it.”

Royal Mail spokesman Valerie Antoine said: “We apologise to this customer who has not received the high quality service we are committed to provide to all our customers.”
