Family in appeal to find Bob

THE family of a missing Brandon man have spoken of their ‘nightmare’ at his disappearance.

A manhunt for father of two Robert Arnold, 65, of Beechfields, was launched last Thursday after he was last seen on May 21 at around 8pm.

Mr Arnold’s niece, Susie Sheppard, 25, said it was ‘totally out of character’ for him to disappear.

“The only way to describe how we’re feeling is that we are all very shocked and we don’t know what to think,” she said.

Ms Sheppard, whose mother, Lesley, is Mr Arnold’s sister, said her uncle struggled with his hearing but ‘has all his marbles’.

She said: “If anyone thinks they have any information, even if they have doubts that it could help, could they please come forward to the police.

“Now we are just waiting by the phone.”

Mr Arnold – known as Bob – has two children, Claire and Karen, and has lived in Brandon for five years, according to Ms Sheppard.

He moved to the town from Essex and worked as a handyman.

Ms Sheppard said: “He was known in the community for going on walks. He had a thing for dogs and he’d always stop and chat to people who had them when he was out.”

Mr Arnold lives with his 88-year-old mother, Joyce, who has had to move in with her daughter in Essex since Mr Arnold’s disappearance.

Police are yet to uncover any sign of Mr Arnold since his car was found in Aldi car park a few days later.

The Fire Service, Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue and the police helicopter have been in action during the search.

Mr Arnold is described as white, 5ft 6ins, of medium build with short, wavy fair hair. He wears two hearing aids and was wearing jeans and a quilted anorak.

Anyone with any information should call Suffolk Police on 101.
