UPTO five jobs could be created under proposals to expand a takeaway sandwich bar in Bury St Edmunds town centre.

Andrew O’Toole, who runs Hatters Sandwich and Coffee Bar, in Hatter Street, has applied for planning permission from St Edmundsbury Borough Council to change the use of neighbouring premises, formerly occupied by Goldwrights jewellers.

In a cover letter, he said it is ‘an ideal opportunity to expand the business further and offer a much needed and regularly asked for sit-down eatery producing freshly made sandwiches and salads’. He added: “I envisage that this will initially create four to five more jobs and offer future vacancies once established.”
