Bury-based singer-songwriter Ellie Jamison is on the verge of releasing her first EP.

Ellie, originally from Oxford, has been playing guitar and singing since the age of nine.

On January 28 her first EP See the World is released on iTunes and Amazon.

Ellie said: “It has been a long time coming - it’s wonderful.

“I have been gigging on and off since I was nine years old, performing in all the venues in my hometown of Oxford.

“Some friends of the family were in a band called Baka Beyond, a world music band.

“When I was 18 they asked me to join them.

“I went around the world touring with them for two years.

“After that I ended up doing a lot of session work

“But I was always writing songs and people told me I should do my own stuff. I started performing my songs with different people around London.

“About a year ago I decided I had all this material and why not give it a go.”

Ellie is having a launch party on January 31 at the Masons Arms in Bury St Edmunds to celebrate the release.

Ellie said the EP was a mixture of old and new material.

She said: “It is my first EP but have also been writing a lot of new stuff recently so will soon have a second one on the way.

“I am absolutely loving it.

“There are three new songs on the EP but there are a couple that are a few years old. It is a mixture of the old and the new.”
