Diamond pair celebrate with club

Sixty years ago, newlyweds Ken and Doreen Davis returned from their honeymoon early so he could play a football match.
He laughs: “The worst thing is we lost.”
It is a sign of the Ixworth couple’s devotion to each other that has seen them to their diamond wedding anniversary, which they celebrated with fellow members of the village’s Over 60s Club.
Committee member Aubrey Rogers organised the celebration as he is a life long friend of the pair.
Mrs Davis, 82, has lived in the village all her life working in the post office and as a middle school dinner lady.
Mr Davis, 81, was a builder and is an avid football fan supporting Ipswich Town.
They have four children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
