A SUPERMARKET developer has responded to a council’s criticisms of a new project.

Location 3 Properties (L3P) has entered an application for a 56,000 sq ft store on the former Tulip/Thermos site in Caxton Way, Thetford.

But Thetford Town Council objected to the loss of industrial land, a new entrance on London Road and the store’s location.

An L3P spokesman rejected the claims, saying the new site would create more jobs than an industrial site and that plans for an entrance on London Road have now been changed - with a Caxton Way entrance being kept.

He also claimed that consent gained by Tesco to expand its store near the proposed Thetford North site would cater for the new development.
