Denham family fly to Budapest in desperate bid to find missing Daniel

The family of a student from Denham who disappeared after leaving a New Year celebration in Hungary have flown out to Budapest in a desperate bid to find him.

Daniel Gliksten, 23, was last seen leaving the Otkert bar in Zrínyi Street in the city’s fifth district in the early hours of January 1 after bringing in the New Year with friends.

Daniel, who holds dual British and Swedish nationality, had been studying medicine in Budapest.

His family, who run the 1,200 acre Denham Estate, near Bury St Edmunds, said yesterday that they were ‘very concerned’ for his safety.

The family said in a statement: “His family is very concerned for his safety and currently is in Budapest working with the Hungarian authorities, British and Swedish embassies to try and ascertain his whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.”

West Suffolk MP Matthew Hancock is aware of his disappearance and is helping to liaise with the relevant authorities.

Hungarian police have launched an investigation into Daniel’s disappearance and are working closely with Suffolk police and colleagues at Interpol.

A Hungarian police spokesman said: “The Budapest police headquarters is asking members of the public to report any information they might have about Mr Gliksten.”

Daniel is described as white, 6ft 2ins tall, of slim build and with short brown hair.

He was wearing a blue and white striped shirt, grey jumper, brown check jacket, dark-red trousers and brown leather boots.

Daniel also wore metal-framed spectacles.

The Denham Estate has one of the largest herds of fallow deer in Europe, as well as rare breed sheep.
