Cure Caballo steal the show

With four of Suffolk's finest bands competing for the title of BurySOUND 09 winners, at the Corn Exchange, in Bury St Edmunds, on Friday, it was a close call.

The biggest audience of the whole event only added to the electric atmosphere of the night and made the decision making for the judges even harder.

Hooker's Green started the night with their ever-popular cover of The Chain, by Fleetwood Mac, and their own number Isabella.

Cure Caballo were up next, giving the audience a seamless performance of Predators, Salvation Is... and many more of their crowd-moving hits, leaving the audience sweaty yet satisfied.

Third to the stage and getting the crowd even warmer were local hard-rockers Not Until Tomorrow. With Old Men Die In New Suits and Kill The Sounds getting the crowd even more upbeat. Just to impress that little bit more, they performed one of the best covers of the night - I Gotta Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas.

Used To Be Blonde finished the night on a good note with their energetic performance, followed by a short but sweet improvised jam at the end.

The votes from the audience were close giving the deciding vote to the judges and there was an anxious 10 minutes for all as votes were cast, withdrawn, then re-cast.

All the bands gave it their all on the night but one band gave that little bit more - taking home the trophy as well as a lot more fans and that was Cure Caballo.

The judges for the final were: Nick Duncan (Sounds Plus); Richard Clark (The Shrubbery Recording Studio and Cafe); Andy Guy (West Suffolk College/BMPro); Simon Glenister (Noise Solution) and Camille Berriman (Bury Free Press).

Joe Carter was the compere for the evening.
