Crowds welcome soldiers home

Crowds enjoyed welcoming home soliders from RAF Honington who took part in a homecoming parade on Saturday.

1 Squadron RAF Regiment returned last Wednesday from a six-month stint in Kandahar, in Afghanistan, and were warmly greeted by the crowds in the spring sunshine.

They paraded through the town and into Charter Square and the salute was then taken by Group Captain Nick Bray, station commander, with St Edmundsbury Borough Mayor Cllr Bob Cockle in attendance alongside other local diginitaries.

Around 1,000 was raised for Help for Heroes as Spandau Ballet's Tony Hadley handed our Beer from the Red Rat Brewery. People can support members of 15 Squadron, currently on tour in Afghanistan, by buying a beer for the boys on www.redratcraftbrewery.co.uk
